Die Markers:
Obverse: Stage A: Several NNE/SSW die scratches show to the left and right of the 1 in the date. A die scratch runs NW from the top of Lincoln’s hair between the E in WE and the first T in TRUST. A series of short, but heavy die gouges run North from the back of the neck, just below the back of the lower hair. A strong die dot shows along the back of the vest, SSE from the lower Y in LIBERTY. Numerous parallel NNE-SSE die scratches run above and below the BERTY of LIBERTY. A series of fine N-S die scratches show below the tip of Lincoln’s chin. A pair of parallel N-S die scratches show on the profile at the back of Lincoln’s mouth. Two faded concentric die scratches run close to the rim below and behind the back of the lower bust. A short die gouge shows at the rim NE from the 0 in the date. Stage B: A die crack runs over the designer’s initials. A curved die scratch runs from the back of the bust through the upper right side of the Y in LIBERTY. A curved die scratch runs from the lower left side of the E in LIBERTY to the lower back of the bust. An E-W die crack shows on the back of the forehead.
Reverse: Stage A: A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the last S in STATES. A short N-S die gouge shows in the field, right of the upper C in CENT. A fine die scratch runs South from the lower left side of the second U in PLURIBUS. A short N-S die scratch shows inside the left upper opening of the A in STATES. A series of light die scratches run North from the U in UNITED to the lower C in CENT. A die scratch runs NNW-SSE between the N and E in ONE. Stage B: A concentric die scratch shows at the rim above the IBUS in PLURIBUS. A faded N-S die scratch shows below the left side of the vertical crossbar of the T in CENT. The die gouge (dot) above the last S in STATES is not present.

Obverse: A series of die scratches run North from between the 1 & 9 in the date and end in the field below the nose. A series of N-S die scratches show below the front hair curl. A short NW-SE die gouge shows inside the D of VDB. Light die scratches run North above the TY of LIBERTY.
Reverse: A N-S die scratch runs directly in the center of the O in OF. A long die scratch runs South just to the right of the vertical bar of the T in CENT. A series of light N-S die scratches run South from the first A in AMERICA and are crossed by a slightly stronger NNW-SSE die scratch. A die scratch runs North from the lower right wheat stem and cuts through the last A in AMERICA. A light die scratch runs South from the left edge of the horizontal crossbar of the first T in STATES and ends just right of the lower right side of the first S in STATES. A series of parallel N-S die scratches show in the field East of the E in ONE.

Obverse: Stage A: Numerous die scratches run generally NW through and above the 1 & 9 in the date ending in the field in front of Lincoln’s chin. Several short die scratches connect Lincoln’s upper chin to the lower lip. Numerous die scratches run N from above the T & Y in LIBERTY. A long die scratch runs South from below the L in LIBERTY. A short die scratch shows below the V in VDB. Several short N-S die scratches show in the upper hair below and to the SW of WE. Several short N-S die scratches show below the front hair curl. A N-S die scratch connects the bridge of the nose with the eyebrow. Several short N-S die scratches show in front of the eye. A long die scratch shows in the field to the right of the front hair curl and runs South to right of the tip of the nose. Stage B: The Stage A die scratches near the 1 & 9 in the date are present but weak. A few of the N-S die scratches in the upper hair are present but weak. All other Stage A die markers are worn away.
Reverse: Stage A: Several die scratches run South from left of the upper C in CENT through the N & U in UNITED and ending below the O in OF. A strong but short die scratch runs South from below the F in OF. Many parallel die scratches run South from the right side of the E in ONE and through the T in CENT. A long die scratch runs South from between the B & U in PLURIBUS ending in the field just above the upper N in ONE. A NW-SE die scratch runs through the lower U and left arm of the M in UNUM. Stage B: A very light die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the E in AMERICA ending in the field left of the upper first S in STATES. A tiny die dot shows in the field right of the upper opening of the last S in STATES.

Three light and parallel die scratches run North from the upper Y in LIBERTY. A die gouge shows in the field to the right of the upper G in GOD. A heavy die gouge shows at the rim above and left of the I in IN. Stage B: A heavy die dot shows in the field North of the R in LIBERTY. The die scratches near the 1 in the date are present, but weaker. A die dot shows in the field right of the I in IN about a third of the way up.
Reverse: Stage A: Several faded die scratches run N-S inside the C in CENT. A die scratch runs N-S in the field NW of the upper C in CENT. Three parallel die scratches run North from the upper left side of the O in ONE. Two long die scratches run North from the tops of the E and S in STATES. Numerous parallel die scratches run NNW above the TY in LIBERTY. A strong concentric die scratch shows near the rim below the designer’s initials and the back of the bust. Numerous NNW-SSE die scratches run below the chin and through the 1 and 9 in the date. A concentric die scratch shows near the rim below the front of the bust and below the mint mark. Numerous parallel die scratches run NW-SE below the TRUS in TRUST. Stage B: Numerous light N-S die scratches run through the date and mint mark area. A NNW-SSE die scratch connects the eyebrow with the bridge of the nose. A die scratch runs SE from the rim above the upper right side of the E in WE. A strong die gouge shows at the rim above the U & S in TRUST. A strong die scratch runs NW-SE from above the S in TRUST to the left side in the last T in TRUST. A long die scratch run SE in the field below the U in TRUST. A die scratch runs SSE from the lower left side of the mint mark. The Stage A concentric die scratch at the back of the bust by the rim is present but weak. Stage C: Die scratch under U in TRUST weak. Die scratch right side of the E in WE weak. Concentric die scratch at rim under bust present but very faint. Die scratches at date mostly worn away. Die scratch SSE from mint mark weak. Other obverse die scratches mostly worn away. Die gouge right of the mint mark.
Reverse: Stage A: A long die scratch runs SW-NE through the left side of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT. Two very light die scratches run mostly South from the right lower curve in the C in AMERICA. A light die scratch runs SW-NE through the right arm of the M in AMERICA. Some light N-S die scratches show in the field to the left of the upper C in CENT. Stage B: New reverse die. Numerous mostly N-S die scratches show throughout much of the central reverse. Stage C: New reverse die. Numerous curved, but mostly N-S die scratches show through the A & T in STATES and the C & A in AMERICA. A number of N-S die scratches show along the left inside opening of the C in CENT. Several light die scratches run NNW from the upper left side of the first A in AMERICA. Numerous, light die scratches run mostly South from the lower opening of the A in STATES.

Reverse: A series of three parallel die scratches run SSE from below the upper crossbar of the E in CENT. A heavy, but faded die scratch runs South from the lower left side of the E in ONE ending just below the left side of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT. A short die scratch runs North from the left upper side of the O in ONE. A die dot shows along the lower left outer margin of the C in CENT. Another die dot shows in the field north of the left side of the N in UNITED. Light die scratches run N-S above the UN in UNITED and SW of the C in CENT.

Comments: This is a replacement die. The original WRPM-007 was found to be a later die stage of WRPM-005.

Obverse: Numerous, light die scratches run NNW-SSE through the left edge of the date. A die clash remnant shows at the front of the neck, north of the bow tie. Numerous die scratches run north from the upper RTY in LIBERTY. A N-S die scratch shows almost perfectly centered inside the opening of the ear. A die gouge (dot) shows in the field below the R in TRUST. A die gouge (dot) shows in the field, SE of the O in GOD. Numerous, mostly E-W concentric die scratches show on the lower bust and lapel area.
Reverse: A band of parallel, SW-NE oriented die scratches run through and below the C and E in CENT. Numerous die scratches run south from below the IBU in PLURIBUS into the upper N in ONE. A strong die scratch runs north from the lower left edge of the A in STATES. A die clash remnant shows to the NE of the N in CENT. Several N-S oriented die scratches show through the E in ONE and the T in CENT.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Stage A: A strong die clash shows at the neck above the upper bowtie. A strong die scratch runs NNW from the upper right side of the 1 in the date. A light die crack runs North from the upper ear, through the hair and ends at the lower right corner of the W in WE. Stage B: The die crack on the head is stronger and runs to the rim along the right side of the W in WE. A die crack runs SW from the lower left corner of the bowtie, ending just left of the top buttonhole. A N-S die crack shows on the lower bust, NW of the first shoulder fold.
Reverse: Stage A: A strong E-W die scratch runs through the upper vertical bar of the T in CENT. Several die scratches run N-S through and below the C in CENT, the N in UNUM and the O in OF. A short die scratch runs South from the right side of the lower O in OF. Several light die scratches connect the upper left side of the O in ONE with the first U in PLURIBUS. Stage B: A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the upper left side of the T in CENT. A die crack runs SE to the rim on the lower right wheat stalk left of the last A in AMERICA.

Numerous N-S die scratches show on the on the back of the neck and below the ear. Numerous N-S die scratches run through LIBERTY with some running all the way North to the G in GOD. Stage B: A die dot shows in the field just right of the bridge of the nose. A die gouge runs SW-NE inside the lower opening of the G in GOD. A tiny tie dot shows between the lower G and O in GOD.
Reverse: Stage A: A die gouge (dot) shows above and between the U and N in UNITED. A die dot shows along the left upper side of the I in UNITED. A light die scratch runs N-S through the left tip of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT. A light die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the E in STATES. Obverse: Stage A: Extremely strong die scratches show on the neck below the ear. Two parallel die scratches run south from below and right of the 1 in the date. Two parallel die scratches run perfectly north from the bridge of the nose with the left one just grazing the tip of the eyebrow and continuing north in front of the forehead. A grouping of short die scratches run north from the upper head south of GOD. Numerous N-S die scratches show inside and in front of the ear. Numerous N-S abrasion lines show on several areas of the central bust above, below and behind the upper lapel. A strong die gouge shows on the lower bust and runs ESE from the upper B in VDB. A series of three light, parallel die scratches run south from the right edge of the upper button hole. Stage B: Most Stage A die scratches gone. Die scratches on the neck below the ear weaker. New north-south die scratches show between the 1 and 9 in the date. A strong die gouge runs NW from the back of the lower bust. Several strong N-S die scratches run through the TY in LIBERTY and to the right from the back of the bust. Numerous N-S die scratches run though IN and GOD. Faded N-S die scratches show in front of Lincoln’s mouth. Stage C: The Stage B die gouge from the lower back of the bust is present, but weak. The Stage B north-south die scratches between the 1 and 9 in the date are present, but weak. A strong die gouge (dot) shows on the back margin of the upper hair below GOD. A tiny die dot shows just below the G in GOD. A strong die gouge (dot) shows below the neck and north of the bowtie. Stage D: The Stage C strong die gouge at the back of the upper hair is still present. The Stage C die gouge (dot) above the bowtie is still present. A light SW-NE die crack shows in the back of the hair below the G in GOD and the W in WE.
Reverse: Stage A: Several mostly N-S die scratches run through the right side of the T in CENT. A strong N-S die scratch shows in the field equidistant from the lower T in CENT and the left edge of the central right wheat stalk. Several strong N-S die scratches connect the L & U in PLURIBUS and the O in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run NW from above and below the NE corner of the E in ONE. Stage B: Stage A die scratches worn away. Heavy finger feeder damage runs ENE through the upper E in ONE. Die scratch runs north from lower right side of first A in AMERICA. Stage C: Finger feeder damage worn away. Die scratch right of A in AMERICA weak. A grouping of tiny die gouges (dots) show just below the central E in ONE. Stage D: New reverse die. A new set of similar, but different finger feeder gouges show through the N in ONE.

Obverse: Stage A: Faded die scratches run NNW-SSE on the neck area, NW of the bowtie. A strong die gouge (dot) shows below the lower left side of the mint mark. A die dot shows in front of the lower bust South of the 1 in the date. A light die crack is starting to form on the central bust behind the upper lapel. Stage B: A long die crack runs North from the hair through the central right side of the W in WE to the rim. The die crack on the central bust behind the upper lapel is stronger. A long die crack runs South on the front of the bust to the rim just behind the first shoulder fold. Two strong die gouges (dots) show on Lincoln’s face, one SW of the back of the nostril and one at the back of the chin. The Stage B die dot below the 1 in the date is still present. A light N-S die crack shows in the hair below the W in WE.
Reverse: Stage A: Numerous N-S die scratches cover almost the entire area of the central reverse. A strong die gouge runs NE from the upper right side of the R in PLURIBUS to the rim. Distinctive scratch patterns show inside the E in CENT, the D in UNITED and the O in OF. Stage B: Most of the Stage B die scratches are faded but still present. The die gouge from the R in PLURIBUS is present, but weak. A well-hidden die gouge runs West from the uppermost wheat kernel in the left wheat stalk.

Obverse: Stage A: A multitude of fine die scratches run N-S through much of the date area with stronger ones showing inside the 9 in the date and above the upper left corner of the 1 in the date. Two parallel die scratches show on the lower bust and run North from the front of the second shoulder fold. Many fine die scratches run NW-SE through TRUST. Stage B: A die crack runs NE from the lower back of the bust. A die scratch runs NNE from the lower right side of the second shoulder fold. A NNW-SSE die scratch shows in the field right of the tip of the Nose. A short die gouge runs SW from the central left side of the N in IN. A die dot shows above the upper vertical bar of the N in IN. A die gouge shows inside the right opening of the G in GOD. A very light E-W die crack shows in the upper hair below the E in WE. The Stage B die scratches inside the 9 in the date and from the 1 are still present. One of the Stage B parallel die scratches at the front of the second shoulder fold is still present. A light die scratch runs SE from the underside of the right horizontal crossbar of the T in LIBERTY. A light die scratch runs NNE from between the upper RT in LIBERTY. A strong die gouge (dot) shows in the field well South of the TY in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Stage A: A multitude of N-S die scratches cover most of the central reverse. Heavy abrasion to remove a die clash has thinned the upper right vertical bar of the N in CENT. A strong die scratch runs South from the lower left arm of the R in AMERICA. Numerous N-S die scratches show inside the C in CENT with two distinctive stronger ones emanating from the upper right inner curve of the C. Distinctive WNW-ESE die scratches run through the right side of the O in OF with some crossing through the lower F in OF. Inverted “V” shaped die scratches show inside the left lower opening of the last S in STATES. A strong die dot shows just to the left of the lower T in CENT. Stage B: The Stage A abraded area on the upper right vertical bar of the N in CENT is still present. The Stage A die dot left of the lower T in CENT is still present. Most of the Stage A N-S die scratches have been abraded away although the two stronger ones inside the C in CENT are still present. A die dot shows along the upper left side of the I in UNITED. A few light N-S die scratches show inside the C in CENT. A die dot shows inside the lower left opening of the E in ONE.

Obverse: The mint mark is close to the tail of the 5 in the date. Strong N-S die scratches show below the front hair curl. Many parallel N-S die scratches show through and below the date area. A grouping of N-S die scratches shows below the ear. A tight cluster of N-S die scratches show in the field immediately behind the neck NE of the Y in LIBERTY. A group of two die gouges show on the upper left side of the collar. A strong die gouge runs West from the central left side of the T in TRUST. Several short NW-SE die scratches show below the TR in TRUST. Short N-S die scratches show behind the eye and inside the temple area.
Reverse: A long die scratch runs North from just above the right wheat stem through the C in AMERICA, the A & T in STATES, the left side of the horizontal crossbar of the T in CENT and ends inside the central E in ONE. A long die scratch runs North from the upper right side of the U in UNITED almost to the upper left wheat tip. Numerous strong N-S die scratches run through and SE of the last A in AMERICA

Obverse: Several die scratches run South from the lower chin ending in the field to the left of the 1 in the date. A die dot shows in the field between the 1 and 9 in the date. A series of strong NNW-SSE die scratches show on the front of the bust, SW of the 1 in the date (Matches Bordner photos). A die scratch runs North from the top of the forehead, behind the front hair curl and reappears in the field below the first T in TRUST. A very strong die dot shows NW of the S in TRUST. A strong die gouge shows at the rim NW of the U in TRUST. Several strong die gouges show at the rim SW from the I in IN. Several light die scratches run North from the top of the T in LIBERTY. Two closely spaced parallel die scratches connect the back of the hair to the back of Lincoln’s shoulder, NE of the Y in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Many die scratches run South from the U & R in PLURIBUS through most of the O in ONE. A strong die scratch runs North from the upper central N in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run N-S just right of the right side of the N in ONE. Two parallel die scratches run N-S inside the opening of the C in CENT.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Stage A: Numerous die scratches run NNW to near the front of the chin from between the 1 & 9 in the date. A strong die gouge runs East from the front of the bowtie. A strong die gouge runs SE from the rim above the R in TRUST. A grouping of N-S die scratches shows below the front hair curl. Die gouge on the neck. Die gouge at the eye. Stage B: Die gouge from the bowtie abraded away. Die gouge above the R in TRUST abraded away. Die gouge on the neck still present. Die gouge at the eye still present. Die clash at the throat. Weak NE/SW die crack on the back of the shoulder. Stage C: A long die scratch runs NE from the lower front of the bust along the left side of the mint mark and between the 9 & 5 in the date. A die gouge shows at the neck, North of the bow tie. A curved die crack shows on the back of the head above the ear. A faded N-S die scratch shows in the field behind the back of the neck.
Reverse: Stage A: A N-S die scratch splits the central opening of the O in OF. Two closely spaced parallel die scratches run North from the upper left side of the O in OF. A die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the N in UNITED to the lower C in CENT. A die gouge (dot) shows toward the rim along the upper right side of the right wheat tassels. Two well-spaced, but parallel die scratches run SW from the right side of the B in PLURIBUS and the left side of the S in PLURIBUS. Stage B: New reverse die. Die chip (dot) on the upper center of the C in AMERICA. Stage C: A light die crack runs SE to the rim from the lower right side of the right wheat stalk. A long thin die scratch runs ESE from the lower right leg of the R in PLURIBUS to almost touching the lower right leg of the N in UNUM. A short, but strong die scratch runs South in the field near the lower left side of the second U in PLURIBUS. This die scratch intersects the previously mentioned ESE die scratch. A small die gouge (dot) shows at the upper margin of the C in AMERICA. Two long and parallel die scratches run ENE from the lower right side of the left wheat stalk below OF. These die scratches run all the way through the lower A & M in AMERICA where they join several other parallel die scratches above and below that area. A tiny die scratch runs North from the direct upper center of the T in CENT. Two die dots, almost a letter width apart show inside the lower E in ONE. Three die dots run in a NW-SE line inside the upper opening of the E in ONE.

Comments: The Stage D coin for this die is considerably later die stage than Stage C, with a new reverse die that is already LDS. I would appreciate if an intervening die stage could be examined for this die.

Obverse: Stage A: A long die scratch runs SSE from the lower tip of the chin almost to the front of the bust, left of the 1 in the date. A tiny die gouge shows on the upper margin of the hair, SE of the G in GOD. A short slashing die scratch shows in the upper hair just SE of the previously mentioned die gouge. Faded light die scratches run SSE-NNW through and between the 1 and 9 in the date . A short N-S die gouges shows on the vest, SW from the buttonhole. Stage B: A strong die gouge shows inside the lower left margin of the tail of the 9 in the date. Two long die scratches form a V to the left of the mint mark. A very strong die dot shows in the field, NW of the 1 in the date. A heavily abraded die clash shows at the throat. Heavy N-S abrasion lines show through the outer chin area. A strong die dot shows in the field East of the upper chin. Two mostly parallel die scratches run through the tip of the nose with one running all the way SE to between the 1 & 9 in the date where it crosses a strong N-S die scratch above it. Numerous NW-SE die scratches show though and NE of the T & Y in LIBERTY. A die dot shows in the field well South of the N in IN. A short N-S die scratch shows just in front of the eye. A short die gouge runs South from the lower margin of the shoulder, just left from the V in VDB. Very light die scratches run North from the upper left side of the N in UNITED. A long N-S die scratch runs South from between the M & E in AMERICA. A long die scratch runs North from the upper right side of the last A in AMERICA. Several short die scratches run North from the lower right wheat stem. A well-hidden die dot shows on the lower left wheat stalk SW of the U in UNITED and between the third and fourth kernels from the bottom (This marker is present in Stages A & B). Stage B: A strong die gouge (dot) shows above the upper central margin of the vertical crossbar of the T in CENT. The die damage at the rim below the last T in TRUST is completely missing. The N-S die abrasion marks at the neck are present but weaker.

A die scratch runs South along the left side of the vertical bar of the second T in STATES. Stage B: The parallel N-S die scratches between the lower A & M in AMERICA are present, but weak. A short portion of the die scratch above shows between the O & N in ONE. The N-S die scratch to the left of the second T in STATES is present, but weak. Some of the parallel die scratches above the N in ONE are still visible. Stage C: Only weak die scratches at the first S in STATES still present. Die crack right wheat.

Obverse: Stage A: Numerous N-S die scratches show under the chin, above the bowtie and through the 1 & 9 in the date. A group of three parallel NNW-SSE die scratches overrun some lighter N-S die scratches above the TY in LIBERTY. A number of die scratches run South from the underside of the L and the BERT in LIBERTY with three of the strongest ones below the E in LIBERTY A N-S die scratch shows very close to the back of the hair. A die gouge (dot) shows in the field, SE of the lower T in CENT. A die dot shows on the upper forehead, just below the front hair curl. A series of WNW-ESE die scratches show on the lower margin of the bust through and East of the B in the designer’s initials. A N-S die scratch runs behind the middle of the lapel. Stage B: The die gouge (dot) on the upper forehead and below the hair curl is still visible. The die gouges through the date and under the chin are either missing or weak. The three NNW-SSE die scratches above the TY in LIBERTY are still visible. The grouping of three die scratches below the E in LIBERTY are still visible. The die scratches through the B in VDB are still present. Most of the other Stage A die markers are worn away.
Reverse: Stage A: Generally N-S die scratches show throughout most of the reverse. Strong N-S die scratches show above and below the diagonal bar of the N in CENT. Die abrasion has slightly reduced the thickness of the upper right vertical bar of the N in CENT. A strong die gouge orientated N-S shows in the field to the left of the T in CENT. A long die scratch runs SSW from the lower center of the E in AMERICA. A strong die scratch runs straight South from the bottom right corner of the N in UNITED, grazing the right side of the O in OF and ending in the field just North of the left wheat stem. Several other N-S die scratches show in this area. Stage B: The Stage A die scratches through the N in CENT have been reduced to only showing at the corners. The die gouge to the left of the T is still present. Some of the N-S die scratches still show around and above the U & N in UNUM.

Obverse: Stage A: Series of die scratches south from the mintmark, including one short heavy scratch. SW die scratch from left center of the 9 in the date to the vest. N/S die scratches in the field right of the profile to the date. Series of various die scratches at the top of the hair SE of the D in GOD. Series of N/S die scratches in the field adjacent the middle of the back of the head that run through the RTY of LIBERTY. N/S die scratches below LIBERTY. N/S die scratch on the back of the neck. Die gouges on the jacket from the upper left side of the lapel. Stage B: A tiny die gouge (dot) shows East of the lower lip (visible in all known die stages). A strong SSW-NNE die scratch runs from the right of the bowtie just grazing the tip of the chin and ending in the field East of the lips. Several light N-S die scratches run left of the one in the date. A strong N-S oriented die gouge shows at the central margin of the top of the forehead and the upper hair (Well SSE of the E in WE). Two NNW-SSE die scratches run between the 1 & 9 in the date. A light die scratch runs SW to the front of the bust from below the tip of the curve of the 9 in the date. Two die scratches run South from below the tail of the 9 in the date, just left of the mint mark. Some light die scratches show on the upper hair, SE of the D in GOD. Light N-S die scratches show inside the temple area. A N-S die scratch shows on the central jaw. Several light die scratches run North from the central collar. Stage C: A strong die gouge (dot) shows approximately one letter width North of the T in LIBERTY. The die dot East of the lower lip is still present. The die gouge on the upper central forehead is still present. Most other Stage B die markers worn away. Stage D: The strong die gouge (dot) North of the T in LIBERTY is still prominent. A strong die gouge (dot) shows a number width NNW of the 9 in the date. The die dot East of the lower lip is still present. The die gouge on the upper central forehead is still present. Stage E: Die crack from the rim at 12:00 o’clock running south through the right side of the W in WE and into the head.
Reverse: Stage A: Die scratch south from the right side of the left wheatear positioned left of the C in CENT. Die scratches south by east from the N in UNITED. Heavy die scratches on either side of the I in AMERICA, north to the TA of STATES. Stage B: A light die crack runs NW-SE through the central three wheat lines, East from the top of the C in CENT. A light die scratch runs South from the lower right side of the B in PLURIBUS. Several light, but long N-S die scratches show to the right of the T in CENT. Three nice N-S and parallel die scratches run through the upper E in CENT. Most of the lower right margin of the right wheat stalk has been worn away. Stage C: The die crack on the left central wheat lines has lengthened and runs North to the top area of the third wheat line from the left. A die crack runs SE to the rim from the lower right wheat stalk, SE from the last S in STATES. Stage D: New reverse die. A long die scratch runs NNW from the right side of the opening of the O in ONE to the rim between U & R in PLURIBUS. A fine die scratch runs S from the lower center of the I in PLURIBUS to the left side of the N in ONE. Several other N-S die scratches show in this area. Light die scratches run mostly South on either side of the vertical bar of the T in CENT. Numerous N-S die scratches overlaid by a more curved scratch show on either side of the second T in STATES and the CA in AMERICA. Stage E: Die scratches are weaker.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Stage A: Consistently N-S die scratches show all over the obverse. Stronger ones show through the RT and above the Y in LIBERTY, through and above the bowtie and through the date and mint mark area. A strong series of die gouges show on the lower central beard. Stage B: The remnant of a die clash shows NE of the Y in LIBERTY. The die gouges on the lower central beard have become more pronounced. Many of the lighter Stage A die scratches have been worn away. Stage C: A small die dot shows just above the left branch of the Y in LIBERTY. The Stage B die clash is still visible. The die gouges on the lower beard are still visible. Nearly all of the N-S die scratches have been worn away. Stage D: A fresh grouping of N-S die scratches show in the field behind the lower bust. A SW-NE die crack is beginning to form on the back of the bust, SE of the Y in LIBERTY. A small, but prominent die gouge (dot) shows on the lapel at the margin of the lower bust. Stage E: This die stage has been heavily abraded with numerous fresh N-S die scratches now visible throughout the obverse. The die crack on the back of the bust has increased in length to the SW. A curved die gouge runs WNW-ESE through the V & D in VDB. A short N-S die gouge shows at the eye.
Reverse: Stage A: N-S die scratches show throughout most of the central reverse. A strong series of die scratches run SSE from below and right of the N in UNITED through OF. A long die scratch runs North from the center of the upper horizontal bar of the E in CENT just missing the right side of the O in ONE and ending in the field above it. Another strong die scratch runs North along the left side of the right vertical bar of the N in CENT ending in the field to the right side of the N in ONE about a third of the way below its upper right edge. A short die gouge runs North from the lower left edge of the right wheat stalk East of the last A in STATES. Short, but heavy die gouges run NNW from the tops of both T’s in STATES. Stage B: Only a single SSE die scratch remains below the N in UNITED which cuts through the central left opening of the O in OF and ends just above the left wheat stem. The die scratch to the North of the E in CENT is still visible. The short die NNW die gouges above both T’s in STATES are still visible. The die gouge from the left die of the lower right wheat stalk is visible, but weaker. Stage C: A light die crack shows on the central left wheat stalk beginning left of the upper U in UNITED and running NNW to the upper left wheat lines. The SSE die scratch from the lower N in UNITED through the O of OF is visible, but much weaker. A curved die crack shows in the central right wheat stalk East and above the last S in STATES. Stage D: New reverse die. A nice grouping of three mostly parallel die scratches run from the lower side of the upper crossbar of the F in OF, South to the lower left wheat stem. A long die scratch runs from the lower right side of the U in UNITED SSE to the upper left side of the left wheat stem. Numerous other NNW-SSE die scratches run through the UNI of UNITED and OF. Numerous strong, mostly N-S die scratches run through the lower sides of the RICA in AMERICA. Numerous light N-S die scratches and a strong die gouge in the field to the East show around the T in CENT. Three strong, mostly N-S die scratches run through the opening of the C in CENT. Stage E: Nearly all the Stage D die scratches are worn away. A single Stage D die scratch remains running from the lower left arm of the last A in AMERICA, South to the right wheat stem. A fresh die scratch runs South from the lower right arm of the M in AMERICA.
