Doubled Die Reverses

Designation Description Image
SDDR-001 Partial extra leaf in the fluting to the right of the middle olive leaf overlapping the torch.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Many die chips on the chin, the lower lip, the back of the lips, the cheek, the nose, the eyebrow, and the hair. Die gouge to the right of the L in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom and top of the torch and the upper olive and oak leaves.

SDDR-002 Faint but strongly rotated doubling in the fluting to the right of the middle olive leaf overlapping the torch.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die chips on the the back of the lips, the nose, the eyebrow, and the hair above the ear.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom and top of the torch as well as the upper oak leaves.

SDDR-003 Doubling to the south on the oak leaf overlapping the torch.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Stage A: Die gouges through the 016 in the date. Die gouge to the right of the T in LIBERTY. Stage B: Same as Stage A.
Reverse: Stage A: Die cracks on the bottom and top of the torch. Die gouge below the M in AMERICA. Die gouge to the right of the F in OF. Stage B: Stage A markers still present. More die cracks and chips formed on the torch. New die chips on the flames and the upper olive and oak leaves. New die gouge in the upper portion of the E in DIME.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Stage A: Many die cracks and chips on the chin, the back of the lips, the cheek, the nose, the eyebrow, and the hair. Stage B: Stage A markers still present. New strong die gouge above the T in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Stage A: Many die cracks and chips on the bottom and the top of the torch. Strong die scratch through OF. Die gouge to the left of the first S in STATES. Die gouge between the bottom of the N and I in UNITED. Stage B: Stage A markers still present. New die chips on the olive and oak branches, the L in PLURIBUS, and the first U in UNUM.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Many die cracks and chips on the chin, the lips, the cheek, the nose, the eyebrow, and in the hair. Die damage at the rim above the B in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Many die cracks and chips on the bottom and top of the torch and in the oak and olive branches. Samll die gouge between the E and S in STATES.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die chips on the back of the lips and on the eyebrow. Die gouge touches the bottom right of the N in IN. Die gouge to the right of the T in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Many die cracks and chips on the bottom of the torch and in the upper olive and oak leaves. Many thin die scratches through UNUM and DIME.

Obverse: Die chips on the eyebrow and the ear.
Reverse: Many die cracks and chips on the bottom and top of the torch and in the upper olive and oak leaves. Die gouge to the right of the second S in STATES.

SDDR-010 Doubling to the north on the lower olive leaf overlapping the torch.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Stage A: Die chips on the back of the lips, the nose, and the ear. Die gouge to the left of the L in LIBERTY. Die gouge near the rim below the E in WE. Stage B: Stage A markers still present. Die cracks and chips have increased in size. New die chips on the eyebrow.
Reverse: Stage A: Many die cracks and chips on the bottom of the torch, the flame, the olive and oak branches, and the first U in PLURIBUS. Die gouge on the upper right of the M in DIME. Die gouge to the left of the O in OF. Old die scratches through UNITED. Stage B: Stage A markers still present. Die cracks and chips have increased in size.

Reverse: Stage A: Die cracks and chips on the bottom of the torch. Die gouge to the left of the U in UNITED. Die gouge between the E in DIME and the second U in UNUM. Stage B: Stage A die gouges weak but still present. More die cracks and chips formed. Retained interior die break on the bottom of the torch. Die cracks and chips on the top and bottom of the torch, and in some of the olive and oak branches. Die gouge between the U and N in UNITED. Die gouge inside the lower portion of the N in UNITED. Die gouge to the left of the A in STATES.

Obverse: Die gouge above the 2 in the date. Unusual die gouges go from the nose, through the IB in LIBERTY, and to the rim.
Reverse: Die cracks on the bottom of the torch. Die gouges above the first U in PLURIBUS. Heavy die damage through the R in AMERICA.

SDDR-025 Light extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM, the torch, and the oak and olive branches as well as slight doubling to the south on the oak leaf overlapping the torch.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die cracks and chips on the back of the lips, the nose, the eyebrow, and in the hair. Two die gouges left of the mintmark P. Die gouge between the T and Y in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom of the torch and in the oak and olive leaves. Short die scratches extends W from the left side of the second A in AMERICA.

SDDR-026 Slight doubling in the fluting to the right of the olive leaves overlapping the torch. Very similar to SDDR-012, compare doubling and die markers.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die cracks and chips on the back of the lips, the nose, the eyebrow, in the hair, and on the ear. Multiple die gouges above and to the left of the 6 in the date.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom and top of the torch and in the oak and olive leaves.

Obverse: Die cracks and chips on the back of the lips and the nose. Multiple small die gouges below the left side of the R in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Die cracks on the bottom and top of the torch. Die gouge below the first S in STATES. Die gouge inside the right opening of the M in DIME.

Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom of the torch and in the olive leaves. Die gouge at the rim below the left side of the O in ONE. Die gouge above the olive leaves below the TE in UNITED.
