| Damaged Mintmark Punch | Apparent doubling as a split upper serif with doubled upper loop resembling an RPM. This is due to a damaged punch and not a true RPM. Further information can be found in Will Brooks' Coin World article (November, 2018 with photos by Ray Parkhurst) entitled “Defective punches for Mint marks can deceive collectors” as well as at Variety Vista. Both the original 1974-S WRPM-001 and WRPM-002 listings were found to be the damaged punch. | |

| WRPM-001 | S/S South Comments: The apparent upper serif and horizontal line on the top of the mint mark is part of a damaged punch for the year. The lower split serif and horizontal line is the true RPM. This coin is a replacement die for the original WRPM-001, which was discovered to be the damaged punch. Additionally, the WRPM-002 listing has been deleted as the damaged punch. Cross-References: Coppercoins: 1974S-1MM-001 Die Markers: Obverse: Small date. Small die gouge right of lincoln’s eye.
