Doubled Die Reverses

Designation Description Image
SDDR-001 Extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM and the lower oak leaves and acorns. Very similar to SDDR-005, compare doubling and die markers.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die chips on the back of the lips, the cheek, and the nose. Die gouge to the right of the E in WE.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the top of the torch and the stem of the oak branch. Strong die scratch through the left side of the U in UNITED.

SDDR-002 Extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM and the lower olive and oak branches.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die chips on the the back of the lips, the nose, and the eyebrow. Two die gouges below the E in LIBERTY.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom and top of the torch as well as the oak branch. Die scratch runs from the top of the I in DIME to the bottom of the torch.

SDDR-003 Doubling to the east on the middle olive leaf overlapping the torch.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die chips on the back of the lips, the cheek, the nose, the eyebrow, the ear, and in the hair. Die gouge below the J in the designers initials JS.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom and the top of the torch and in the olive and oak branches. Die gouge below the E in E PLURIBUS UNUM. Die gouge between the A and M in AMERICA.

SDDR-004 Slight doubling in the fluting to the right of the olive leaves overlapping the torch.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die chips on the cheek, the nose, the eyebrow, and in the hair. Die gouge to the right of the Y in LIBERTY. Two die gouges between the 1 in the date and the mintmark. Two die gouges below the ST in TRUST.
Reverse: Die cracks and chips on the bottom and top of the torch and in the olive and oak leaves. Die gouges to the right and below the M in UNUM. Die gouge near the rim above the TE in STATES. Die gouge below the A in STATES. Die gouge below the second T in STATES.

Die Markers:
Obverse: NE-SW die scratches through the date.
Reverse: Very small die chip on the base of the upmost olive leaf. Die gouge to the right of the first S in STATES.
